چکیده
This is a summary on verbal subgroups in the groups T(∞, K) and UT(∞, K) of infinite dimensional triangular and unitriangular matrices over a field K, |K| > 2. The characterization of the lattices of verbal subgroups in these groups is presented, and the width of verbal subgroups generated by non-commutators, powers and (generalized) Engel words is given [2, 3, 4]. The groups T(∞, K) and UT(∞, K) may be defined as limits of inverse systems of groups of finite dimensional matrices. The described results are deduced from the respective characterization for the finite dimensional case [1] and some properties of the inverse limit topology [5].

ON QUASI UNIVERSAL COVERS FOR GROUPS ACTING ON TREES WITH INVERSIONS
Abstract. In this paper we show that if G is a group acting on a tree X with inversions and if (T Y ) is a fundamental domain for the action of G on X, then there exist a group &tildeG and a tree &tildeX induced by (T Y ) such that &tildeG acts on &tildeX with inversions, G is isomorphic to &tilde G, and X is isomorphic to &tildeX. The pair (&tilde G &tildeX) is called the quasi universal cover...
متن کاملExtensions of amenable groups by recurrent groupoids
We show that amenability of a group acting by homeomorphisms can be deduced from a certain local property of the action and recurrency of the orbital Schreier graphs. This applies to a wide class of groups, amenability of which was an open problem, as well as unifies many known examples to one general proof. In particular, this includes Grigorchuk’s group, Basilica group, groups associated with...
متن کاملDimension and randomness in groups acting on rooted trees by Miklós Abért ∗ and
We explore the structure of the p-adic automorphism group Γ of the infinite rooted regular tree. We determine the asymptotic order of a typical element, answering an old question of Turán. We initiate the study of a general dimension theory of groups acting on rooted trees. We describe the relationship between dimension and other properties of groups such as solvability, existence of dense free...
